| Hello, My name is Maria! AKA: HippieJazzy4JC & Spirit Lovingly Jazzy I am a singer with a great desire to one day be a great Jazz performer. I am heavily influenced by Swing, Big Band & Jazz performers like Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday & many more. In High School I was introduced to Jazz by two wonderful teachers.I had auditioned for a Jazz vocal ensemble in order to broaden my musical horizons. I became part of the group & was asked to listen to various artists. I was immediately hooked. I heard artists like Louis Armstrong, Harry Connick Jr., The Manhattan Transfer, The Duke, Billie Holiday, Dizzie Gelespie, John Coltrane & so many more incredible talents. But I most say none of these had quite the impact as did one particular artist...Ella "The Song Bird" Fitzgerald. She has to be the most incredible singer I have ever heard. Her voice is to me was flawless. She makes me want to belt out a toon right along with her. I was truly blessed to be given the opportunity to hear this beautiful genre of music & so I felt it only fitting to share it with all of you who have yet to experience... JAZZ! |
